It suggests a setting you don't want#

A lower resolution for bigger text, or 60 Hz to save power, say. Press Leave it as it is (or Leave HDR off): it isn't suggested again.

The screen went dark or wrong after a change#

Don't press anything. Within 15 seconds the change undoes itself, and the display goes back as it was.

A change undid itself#

You didn't press Keep it in time. Press its button again (Set to 144 Hz, say), and Keep it once the screen looks right. To give yourself longer, raise Put a display back after (Advanced).

HDR won't turn on#

  • A laptop on battery: Windows can keep HDR off on battery. Plug it in, or change Windows' battery setting for HDR in Settings > System > Display > HDR.
  • The display or cable doesn't carry it at this resolution and refresh rate.

The refresh rate dropped again after an update#

Graphics driver updates sometimes reset it. The Marshal says so after each update: press Set to, beside it.

A controller "isn't seen"#

It's off or unplugged, or Windows lost it. Turn it on or plug it in. If it still isn't seen, check it in Windows' Settings > Bluetooth & devices. Turn Check game controllers off if you don't want them checked.

G-SYNC or FreeSync is off#

The Marshal doesn't read them. Check your graphics card's own control panel.

Its page won't open#

Its page is http://marshal.localhost:21313/. Open on its card in Castellan starts it if it's down, and Castellan checks every two minutes that it answers, and opens it again if it has stopped.
