When the Bridgeward isn't working as it should
What to do when the Bridgeward watches the wrong regions, grades a region poor, says your router adds delay, shows packets lost, or its page won't open.

It watches the wrong regions#
It chose the two nearest your Windows time zone. Pick the ones your games use under Game server regions to watch: a game's server list, or its region setting, usually names them.
A region is graded poor#
- It's far away. Delay grows with distance: a region on another continent is rarely good. Watch the nearest ones.
- Your router adds to it. See the router's line on the page, below.
- Others on your network are downloading or streaming. Check again when it's quiet.
- Your provider's route to that region is slow. If it's poor for days, at quiet times, over a cable, tell your provider, with the page's figures.
It says your router adds delay#
A router slower than 10 ms, unsteady, or losing pings slows every game.
- On Wi-Fi: use a cable, or move the PC nearer the router.
- Restart the router.
- Over a cable, and still slow: the router may be overloaded. Check what else is using it.
The router "didn't answer"#
Some routers are set not to answer pings. If yours is, turn off Check the router too.
Packets are lost#
A lost connection is one that didn't get through within 2 seconds. A few, now and then, are normal on Wi-Fi. Lost in every round, over a cable, means trouble on the line: the Weigher, working behind the Bridgeward, records outages and whose side they were on.
A game lags, but the Bridgeward says good#
The game's servers may be elsewhere, its own data centres or another cloud, or the game's own servers may be busy. The Bridgeward measures the way to where many games run, not to one game's match.
Its page won't open#
Its page is http://bridgeward.localhost:21414/. Open on its card in Castellan starts it if it's down, and Castellan checks every two minutes that it answers, and opens it again if it has stopped.
