File your files#
- Open the Warrener's page: Open on its card in Castellan.
- Each loose file has a card, newest first: its name, where it's from, the suggested name and destination, and why.
- Change a name or a destination if you'd like another. A name the AI suggested has a dashed border.
- Tick the files to file.
- Press File the ticked ones, and confirm.
Before it moves each one, it checks the file hasn't changed since it was listed, and that its name is free in the destination. If not, that file stays, and the page says why; the others go. A name already there gets (2) added.
A destination folder that doesn't exist yet is made when a file goes into it.
Leave a file where it is#
Not this one hides a file from the list until it changes. Show them again brings back every file you hid.
Put a move back#
Recent moves lists the last 30 moves, each with Put back. The file goes back where it was, as long as nothing has taken its old name and it's the same size it was filed at. Otherwise nothing moves, and the page says why.
How a move is made#
- On the same drive, the file is renamed into place: nothing is copied, and nothing already there can be replaced.
- To another drive, it's copied, the copy is checked against the original, and only then is the original removed. A copy that doesn't match is removed, and the original stays.
Every move and put-back is logged, so nothing is lost.
