Search#
- Open the Clerk's page: Open on its card in Castellan.
- Type a few words you remember from the picture or document: "invoice March", "0x80070005", "router password".
- The results show at once, the best first, each with its thumbnail and the passage your words are in.
- Press Show in Explorer on the one you want: Explorer opens with the file selected.
With nothing typed, the page shows the newest files it read.
What finds what#
- Words find words. A word of 4 letters or more also finds words that start with it: "print" finds "printer".
- The file name counts too, and counts double.
- Codes are split up: "25006" finds "0x25006".
- A picture with no text is found by its caption: "photo of the router" finds a picture captioned "A router on a desk".
- Re-ranking by meaning: when the local AI's search model is running, the top 30 results are put in order by how close they are in meaning, as well as in words. The note above the results says so. It can reorder results; it never adds one that has none of your words.
When it isn't found#
- Try another word. Text recognition can misread a letter ("ldentity" for "Identity"), and only word starts match, not typos.
- Try a word from its file name, or its caption.
- It may not be read yet: see A file isn't found.
