How Reeve finds them#

Reeve looks after every git repository on this PC, with nothing to configure. It looks:

  • In the usual folders, directly or one folder down (an owner's folder, such as C:\src\someone\app): source\repos, Projects, repos, code, dev, src, git, GitHub, Documents\GitHub and Documents\Projects in your profile; and Projects, src, source, repos, code, dev, git, GitHub and worktrees at the top of every fixed drive.
  • In every folder your terminal AI assistant has worked in, wherever it is.
  • In any other repository you name (below).
  • In each of your own repositories listed in Castellan, wherever its checkout is.

A worktree counts as its repository, wherever it is. Folders starting with . or $, and node_modules, are never searched. The list is kept for 10 minutes; Scan again on the page, or repos with refresh from your assistant, looks again now.

What the rounds do with each#

  • Every repository gets the git jobs: fast-forward keeps its clean main and release checkouts current, once you turn it on; git-hygiene reports on its worktrees; worktree-tidy tidies merged ones, once you turn it on.
  • A repository with a lockfile Reeve reads (npm, pnpm, yarn, Cargo, Go, a pinned requirements.txt, up to three folders down, outside tests' fixtures and examples) is also a project. A project gets Reeve's own checkout (%USERPROFILE%\.reeve\checkouts\<name>, on the newest release/* branch, else origin's default), version-pinned docs, and the daily dependency health. Its packages are installed there without their install scripts, and no git hook of the repository runs: nobody vetted that code to run unattended.
  • A .NET repository with only a .sln gets the git jobs only.
  • Your own repositories listed in Castellan also get their merged branches cleaned up (project-branches), and Reeve's alerts about them name them.

A project's first check sets what's known: open security alerts found then are a warning, not an alert. From then on, a new high or critical one is an alert.

See Reeve's rounds for exactly what each job does.

Add a repository it missed#

  1. Open Reeve's page, and Settings in the title bar.
  2. Under Your repositories, add it to Other repositories (a folder inside it will do), or add the folder you keep your repositories in to Search folders.
  3. Save.

Search folders, once you fill it in, replaces the usual folders. Left empty, it means the usual ones that exist. %USERPROFILE% and ~ work in both lists.

Leave one alone#

Leave alone on a repository, in Reeve's page's Repositories, takes it off the rounds: no fetch, no fast-forward, no checkout, no checks. It's still listed. It's added to Left alone in Settings, which takes a path or a name; take it out of that list to put it back on the rounds.

Your own repositories listed in Castellan can't be left alone this way: Castellan's settings put them on the rounds. Take one out of Settings > Repositories in Castellan instead.

What the page shows#

Repositories, on Reeve's page, lists every repository found, Castellan's own first, in groups that fold to one line (how many, the pull requests waiting on you, the space they take). For each: its branch, open pull requests, lockfiles, its project and Reeve's checkout (or why it has none), the space its worktrees and build output take, Leave alone, and Details:

  • its open pull requests, and what each waits for (ready to merge, needs review, checks failing…);
  • its worktrees, with their size, when each was last used, and why one stays;
  • its local branches already merged.

Pull requests come from GitHub through gh (signed in, read-only), and are kept for two minutes; Refresh pull requests asks again. Reeve merges nothing.

Where the space has gone, above them, adds up the disk your worktrees, build output, package caches and temporary files take, from Heiward's developer check. Clean up in Heiward opens Heiward's page, which removes only what's safe to.

Your assistant's view#

Your AI assistant's repos tool gives the same list: each repository's path, branch, GitHub repository, lockfiles, and what the rounds do there. Every Reeve tool's root takes a name from it, so search with root: "website" works from anywhere.
