The agents
Each office on the manor has its officer. In Household, the agent for everyone holds it; with Workshop, a developer's agent takes the office and the Household one keeps working behind it. Every agent runs its AI on your NPU, GPU or CPU, and works on your PC.
The Smith
The smith kept the forge every trade on the manor worked from, and banked the fire when nobody needed it.
Smith
Householdworks on its ownKeeps the local AI running: the model servers every agent works from.
Sets up the model servers on your NPU, GPU or CPU, stops the ones nobody is using so their memory comes back, and restarts any that stop answering.
The Porter
The porter kept the household's gate and knew who came and went.
Porter
Householdworks on its ownWhat's new on your PC, who signed it, and whether it matches.
Lists what arrived since the last look (downloads, startup entries, scheduled tasks, services, listening ports, installed programs), checks who signed each one, and flags what needs a look. It only reads: it never blocks or removes anything.
The Reeve
On a manor, the reeve saw that the day's work got done.
Thatcher
HouseholdKeeps your installed apps in repair.
Every few hours it looks for upgrades, puts security fixes first, says in a line what each one changes, and installs only the ones you tick.
Reeve
Workshopworks on its ownThe local helper for your AI coding assistant, and rounds on your repositories.
Reads long build and test logs, searches and summarizes code on your own hardware, and hands your AI coding assistant only the lines that matter: fewer tokens sent to the cloud. Every 30 minutes its rounds look after your repositories: dependency health, upgrades, security alerts, failing tests. Its page counts the tokens it kept off the cloud.
The Clerk
The clerk wrote the manor's court rolls and kept its accounts.
Clerk
Householdworks on its ownMakes your screenshots and scans searchable.
Reads the text in your screenshots and scanned documents with Windows' own OCR, on your PC, and keeps it in a search page, so a picture can be found again by the words in it.
The Chamberlain
The chamberlain looked after the private chambers.
Chamberlain
HouseholdYour documents and mail, indexed on your PC, and answers about them.
Keeps your documents and mail indexed on this PC, answers questions about them, and sums up what's new.
The Herald
Heralds carried news and messages between lords' courts.
Herald
Householdworks on its ownThe news you follow, summed up.
One of four: the Gamer watches your games' patch notes, their launchers and your graphics drivers; General purpose brings local news, the weather and stock alerts; the Financial guru brings financial news; the PC caretaker watches your apps', Windows' and firmware updates and the security flaws in software you have.
Developer Herald
Workshop · coming soonNews from the projects your code is built on.
Follows the releases and issues of the packages your own projects depend on, suggested from the repositories on your PC.
The Warrener
The warrener kept the lord's rabbit warren. Downloads and the Desktop breed like rabbits.
Warrener
HouseholdA name and a home for what piles up in Downloads and on the Desktop.
Suggests a better name and a home folder for each loose file, and moves only the ones you tick. Every move can be put back.
The Miller
Tenants ground their grain at the lord's mill, and the miller took a toll.
Miller
HouseholdBig videos and photos, made small.
Drop big videos and photos in its hopper folder: it makes smaller copies that look and play the same, and keeps one only when it's really smaller and passes its checks. Originals are left alone until you say.
The Lamplighter
The lamplighter walked the lanes at dusk and lit again any lamp that had gone out.
Lamplighter
Householdworks on its ownNever left on a black screen by a bad graphics driver.
Keeps the last good graphics drivers, asks after a new one whether to keep it, and puts the last good one back when nobody answers or the screen looks dark.
The Surveyor
The surveyor walked the estate, wrote down the state of every building, and said what to mend.
Surveyor
Householdworks on its ownChecks that your PC and every agent are working, and says what to mend.
Looks at each agent's page, rounds and logs; Windows, driver and app updates; backups; the disk and the battery. Then it suggests fixes and improvements.
The Auditor
The auditors heard the reeve's account every Michaelmas and checked it line by line.
Reckoner
HouseholdTakes stock of your PC's devices, and what an update changed.
Sound, camera, microphone, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, printers and any device with a problem, checked again after a Windows or driver update, with what changed said plainly.
The Aletaster
The aletaster tested the ale and bread made on the manor for quality and fair measure.
Weigher
Householdworks on its ownChecks your internet gives the measure you pay for.
Its speed through the day, and every time it drops, kept as a plain record you could show your provider.
Aletaster
Workshop · coming soonTastes each release of your own projects before it goes out.
The versions agree, the checksums match, the build is green, and every merged change has its changelog line. It reports; it changes nothing.
The Pinder
The pinder kept the manor's pound, where stray animals were held until they were claimed.
Shepherd
HouseholdRounds up the apps that run when you aren't using them.
The ones that drain the battery, hold on to memory or keep starting themselves, closed or stopped only when you tick them.
Pinder
Workshopworks on its ownFinds stray processes and the ports they hold.
The ones that outlived the session that started them, hold a port, or burn CPU for minutes on end.
The Steward
The steward ran the household and its servants, and passed the lord's orders down to them.
Steward
Workshop · coming soonKeeps your own repositories in order.
For the repositories you pick: each new version claimed before the work starts, your ready pull requests merged, and new versions released, each only where you say yes.
The Hayward
The hayward (heiward, “hedge warden”) kept the hedges trimmed and the fences sound.
Heiward
FreeFinds duplicate photos and videos, and stale developer files. Free.
AI matching on your NPU, GPU or CPU finds resized, recompressed, cropped and edited copies. Nothing is removed until you say so, and what you tick goes to the Recycle Bin.
Heiward is free and open source, and works on its own. With Castellan installed, it joins the household.
