Envoy: release notes
Each version, newest first.
0.1.9
It carries the Steward's kit 2.73.2: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.73.2: One process for every git, not two: a page keeps a windowless console its git and gh can share, and a test's commits start no upkeep.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.1.8
It carries the Steward's kit 2.69.1: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.69.1: An update is no longer rolled back because the network went down while it was installing.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.1.7
It carries the Steward's kit 2.68.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.68.0: Intel NPUs nobody has measured yet (Meteor Lake, Arrow Lake, Panther Lake, Wildcat Lake) are set up safely: setup measures each PC's NPU, checks that its answers make sense, and falls back quietly when it can't use it.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.1.6
It carries the Steward's kit 2.67.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.67.0: Intel's NPU: three times the text a request may carry, and embeddings on the NPU, so a PC with default settings can search its code.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.1.5
On a PC with an Intel Core Ultra, Envoy turns speech into text on Intel's NPU.
What's new
- Envoy hears voice chat on Intel's NPU (Core Ultra: Meteor Lake, Arrow Lake, Lunar Lake, Panther Lake and Wildcat Lake), as it already did on Snapdragon PCs.
- The first time, it fetches Intel's NPU runtime (OpenVINO, about 118 MB) and prepares the speech model for your NPU, behind the "setting up" note.
- Only PCs with an Intel NPU fetch it.
- When speech has to run on the processor, the page now names the real reason: no NPU, an NPU Envoy can't use yet (AMD's), or an Intel NPU driver that's too old, with the version it needs.
envoy speech-checktests speech on your PC's NPU from start to finish. It fetches what's needed, prepares the model, transcribes a short clip in Windows' own voice, checks the words, and ends with PASS or FAIL and the timings.
What changed
- Snapdragon PCs work as before, through Qualcomm's NPU runtime.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual. On an Intel PC, Envoy fetches and prepares Intel's runtime once after the update, with a "setting up" note in Manor meanwhile.
0.1.4
It carries the Steward's kit 2.66.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.66.0: The NPU benchmark: a fixed suite that measures how fast and how well a chip does Castellan's work, for the website's boards; and a count of the tokens agents send, to weigh it.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
0.1.3
It carries the Steward's kit 2.65.0: the parts every agent of the manor shares.
What changed
- The Steward's kit 2.65.0: Intel's NPU route, run on a real Lunar Lake: a model that works on the NPU, the runtime it needs brought by setup, and a test request that checks the answer.
Before you update
- Nothing: it updates itself as usual.
Installing
- Castellan installs and updates it by itself. To install it by hand, unpack the zip anywhere and run
node src\cli.ts install(Node 22.18 or later).SHA256SUMS.txtlists its SHA-256 (PowerShell:Get-FileHash).
0.1.1
Envoy hears your voice chat: live captions from Discord, TeamSpeak or Mumble, translated into your language on the NPU.
What's new
- While a program you chose is in a call, Envoy hears that program alone, turns speech into text on this PC's NPU, and shows each line on its page as it's spoken.
- A line spoken in another language is translated into yours once the speaker finishes.
- Captions over your game: the last two lines show in a strip at the bottom of the screen and go a few seconds after the talking stops. Turn it off in Settings. It doesn't show over exclusive-fullscreen games; borderless and windowed are fine.
- The first time, Envoy fetches the speech model (about 190 MB, plus Qualcomm's NPU runtime on Snapdragon PCs) and prepares it for your NPU. Manor shows a "setting up" note meanwhile.
- If speech has to run on the processor instead of the NPU, the page says so and why.
- The part that listens comes signed, for both Arm and x64 PCs, and the install keeps only your PC's.
What changed
- Nothing said is kept: captions stay in memory and go when Envoy stops, and sound never leaves your PC.
- With no call, Envoy uses no processor and holds no model.
Before you update
- Nothing: it's new. Hire it from the envoy's card in Manor.

0.1.0
Envoy's first version: its page, your language, and translation of a caption on the NPU.
What's new
- Envoy's page, with Try a caption: type a line in any language and see it captioned in yours, translated on this PC's NPU by the local AI.
- Settings for your language (Windows' own to start with), the voice chat programs to caption, translation, and captions over your game.
- Listening to voice chat itself comes with Envoy's media host, in a later version: the page says so until then.

- Nothing: it's new. Hire it from the envoy's card in Manor.
